Wild Rift Releases Patch Notes 1.0 to Prepare to Enter Regional Open Beta

After announcing the start of the Open Beta in select regions in the next few days, Riot has issued a patch note 1.0 listing all the new changes in the next update. This Open Beta will provide access to Wild Rift for all users in almost all countries that already have Closed Beta access including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. The Open Beta update will start on October 27th in Pacific Time, so Indonesian summoners will likely have to wait for the 28th.

First of all, Riot has announced a downtime while for iOS. Apart from stopping testing on iOS they will also stop downloading for Wild Rift. This restriction should not run when the Open Beta starts.

The next announcement was the addition of Lee Sin as the newest Wild Rift champion. Lee Sin’s kit has been tweaked to make his gameplay smoother by allowing him to use Safeguard without targeting friends or wards. Other than that, Lee Sin doesn’t seem to have changed drastically from his version of League, news that will surely be well received by all his fans waiting for Lee Sin’s arrival in Wild Rift.

Apart from Lee Sin, six other champions will be coming to Wild Rift before the Open Beta as “Champ Previews”, where they can be played for free by all players. The remaining K/DA members, Akali, Evelynn, Kai’Sa, and Seraphine, as well as two champions from Noxus, Darius and Draven, will be playable from October 23 to October 28.

Riot then announced a buff for the Tear of the Goddess item and all items that have it as a component. The reason they gave was that the summoner didn’t use it enough, so by making all of these items more powerful, the summoner would have more incentive to build them. Apart from the Tear of the Goddess, these items are the Archangel’s Staff, Manamune, Muramana, and Winter’s Approach.

The Tear of the Goddess and the items that use it have a “stacking” mechanic that will give champions more bonuses the longer the game progresses. But with how quickly a Wild Rift game progresses, the bonus amount players get isn’t strong enough to show a high impact. Increasing the number of bonuses that can be obtained in one stack will speed up the increase in stats and also increase the use of this item.

Lastly is a minor change to the AFK penalty system for all players. While Riot understands that AFK penalties are important so that one person doesn’t ruin the playtime of four other people, they feel that their penalties are too high for people who don’t AFK on purpose. Sometimes the problem is in the internet player connection, starting from the ISP, or interference with the router. With this change, players who accidentally AFK between 3-6 minutes will only be penalized for 10 minutes from the initial 30 minutes.
