C9 Forms Cloud9 White, First Women's Pro Valorant Team, Ready to Compete in First Strike!

The esports organization Cloud9 officially announced that they have just signed a contract with Team MAJKL to form Cloud9 white, the first female professional Valorant team.

The MAJKL team itself was originally known as one of the teams with the best female roster after they won the title at the FTW Summer Showdown tournamnet – a part of the Valorant Ignition Invitational which was held specifically for women.

Cloud9 Acquires Team MAJKL, forms Cloud9 White

Seeing Team MAJKL’s outstanding achievements in the previous tournament, Cloud9 finally decided to acquire them under the team name Cloud9 White. The following is the Cloud9 White roster list:

  • Alexis “alexis” Guarrasi
  • Annie “Annie” Roberts
  • Jasmine “Jazzk1ns” Manankil
  • Katsumi
  • Melanie “meL” Capone

Actually, Cloud9 itself already has a pro Valorant team with a roster of men called “Cloud9 Blue”. Well, for this female Valorant team, they named it “Cloud9 White.”

Based on GamesBeat’s interview with Kristin Salvatore, VP of marketing at Cloud9, the two men’s and women’s squads will be playing under the same league, training together, and against each other.

“We have two competitive teams,” said Salvatore. “Our goal is to form only one team with the best players.” In other words, their goal in the future is to combine female and male pro players! Something very rare in the world of esports.

“One of the cool things about esports and competitive gaming, as opposed to traditional sports, is that you play with a mouse and keyboard,” added Salvatore. “It doesn’t matter who is behind the game…”

For now, the esports organization is committed to turning Cloud9 White into a team capable of competing in the male-dominated professional Valorant scene.

Cloud9 hopes that both team names will compete in the same tournament. Both teams will be looking to qualify for the first official Valorant game championship, First Strike, which will be held later this year. Meanwhile, the first qualifying round will start this week until November.

The popularity of esports itself has increased rapidly in recent years, but the women’s division is indeed inadequate. Based on WomenIngames.org, 71% of respondents feel that women are not adequately represented in the world of esports and gaming.

The FTW tournament shows the advancement of the world of esports for women! And of course, as one of the largest esports organizations, Cloud9 wants to take a step forward and provide opportunities for women in the competitive world of esports, starting with the upcoming First Strike Tournament.

Did you know, one of the roster in Cloud9 Blue is the number 1 best player based on the Valorant NA leaderboard? It will be interesting to see the performance of the Cloud9 White team later. Will they be able to compete with other male-dominated Valorant teams?
