Indonesian Horror Game DreadOut Looks Like It Will Get a Remake

The rapid development of the Indie game industry in Indonesia was also followed by the great success achieved by several developers. Like Digital Happiness, for example, where they succeeded in creating the most popular local horror franchise today through DreadOut. Following in the footsteps of the success of the first game, the developer has expanded by developing several new games including the continuation of the sequel. There is even the latest news that the first DreadOut series will get a remake project as well.

This news first appeared through Digital Happiness’s latest post on their social media account. Along with the announcement of the Steam Key Giveaway, they also included a new survey containing ideas for the DreadOut Remaster project. We refer to it as a “Remake” in this article because the addition of content and revamp ideas in the survey could also be associated with a remake of a game.

For example, how the graphics quality of the game was changed to the Unreal Engine base with improvements in the animation section and much more. But of course, it all depends on how much overhaul will be brought from the survey and if the game does get a remaster/remake or not.

In addition to ideas for the DreadOut Remake, the survey also included ideas for the latest DLC content DreadOut 2. This includes whether players would like to get the standard DLC additions or the idea of creating a new side game similar to DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark. Even though it’s only a survey, it gives us an idea of Digital Happiness’s plans in the future.

What is DreadOut?

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the name, DreadOut is a popular horror game franchise made by local developer Digital Happiness. This game that takes inspiration from the Fatal Frame series takes you on a mysterious adventure that must be faced by a high school girl named Linda. Thanks to the skyrocketing popularity of the first game to be played by well-known YouTubers like PewDiePie, this franchise continues to grow even to the point of being expanded into a horror film.
