The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes Shows First Trailer, Brings the Theme of Ancient Mythology Horror!
After the great success that Until Dawn achieved as a solid horror-themed interactive story game, Supermassive Games tried to take advantage of this momentum by preparing three similar game projects in the form of an anthology series entitled The Dark Pictures. The release of the first two games didn’t really offer the high-end quality that fans expected like Until Dawn, but they still have at least one more new title, House of Ashes.
After half a year without any new news, today Bandai Namco and Suppermassive have finally released a teaser trailer for the game which is sufficient to give an idea of the horror concept that will be carried out. This trailer only shows a one and a half minute cutscene without clear context, but at least there is information at the end of the trailer that ensures that there will be a premiere gameplay presentation on 27 May.
As for the theme of the story, The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes this time takes place in Iraq in 2003, where CIA member Rachel King and her troops were on a mission to ambush a biological weapons factory in the Zagros mountains. When they reach the target point, the unit is caught in a disaster that leads them to a cursed Sumerian ruins and seems to awaken an evil figure that haunts the desert land. If you look around, the concept this time seems to involve mystical powers or evil spirits from ancient mythology.
For those of you who are interested in the game, The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes is scheduled to be released this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. Meanwhile, the two previous series, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan and The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, are already available on the same platform.
