EA is reportedly working with Tencent for Apex Legends Mobile!
Apex Legends looks like it is undergoing a revival if the popularity of the game continues to grow. Apex Legends recently set a new record for concurrent players on Steam, peaking at an impressive 129.928 players on Steam alone at one time.
It seems EA has plans to further expand the reach and player base of Apex Legends, according to a report from IGN India. It seems that many sources have confirmed that Tencent, a large Chinese technology conglomerate, helped develop the mobile release designed by Apex Legends, with Respawn maintain the role of supervisor of the game.
Previously, Tencent had collaborated with Activision and PUBG Corp. to bring Call of Duty and PUBG to the mobile version, respectively. It is not surprising that Respawn joined this Chinese company to develop a mobile version of Apex Legends. During EA’s Q3 earnings call for the 2021 fiscal year, the company confirmed that it was working with a “Chinese friend” for Apex Legends Mobile. EA also said the same partner would work to bring Apex to PC in the country.
Earlier this month, during the company’s Q3 earnings call for the 2021 fiscal year, EA provided a tentative release date for the game. Apex Legends Mobile will launch in China in “three to four months”, according to industry insider Daniel Ahmad.
– Japan is the 2nd largest market for Apex. One of reasons behind Switch ver. (Switch is big in Japan).
– Apex Legends Mobile to have a soft launch in next 3 to 4 months. Plan to launch in China once approved.
– Expand Apex Legends franchise + reach new audience with both.

If this report is correct, it seems that Apex Legends on mobile devices requires a little effort to run smoothly. However, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see Apex Legends is a pretty big game with plenty of in-game assets, textures, and geography to make do with. However, these loose terms always have the opportunity to change slightly before an official announcement is made. If EA and Tencent are targeting the announcement of the third quarter of 2021, there is a possibility that enthusiasts can see the launch announcement in the summer of 2021.
In addition, the content Apex Legends Season 8 just getting started, so EA and Respawn undoubtedly have their hands full with new content updates coming to the game in the coming months. All of this news is a pretty clear sign that Apex Legends continues to grow steadily in the Battle Royale space. Despite stiff competition from games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone, Apex Legends continues to carve its own niche with a very dedicated player base. Hopefully, this mobile version of Apex Legends serves to expand the base of an increasingly growing player.
