‘William English’ Computer Mouse Inventor Dies – William English, the inventor of the computer mouse, has died at the age of 91.

William English, an engineer and researcher behind the creation of the computer mouse. William is known to have a very great interest in the field of electricity after learning from his father. Unfortunately, William English was just reported to have passed away on July 26, 2021, in San Rafael, California.

Reported from CNN Indonesia, William English’s cause of death was confirmed by his wife, Roberta, who said her husband died of respiratory failure. The inventor of the mouse, William English, died at the age of 91.

William conceptualized a computer mouse with a device consisting of two electrical mechanisms called a potentiometer. This allows it to track the movement of the cursor wheel as it moves on the desktop screen. Since then William English and Englebart called it the mouse. Naming a mouse is analogous to a computer screen as a cat and a mouse as a mouse.

The use of the mouse is currently competing with touch screen technology that has been implemented by many equipment. But the invention of William and Englebart is still very useful, especially for gamers who play on a computer or PC.
