Funding Issues, Battle Royale Game 400 People Mavericks: Proving Ground Canceled
Sad news coming from the developer of the Battle Royale game Mavericks: Proving Ground. The game, which was officially announced last year, unfortunately had to be canceled. Development Automaton Games revealed that the cancellation of this game was caused by financial problems they experienced. Mavericks itself has entered the pre-alpha period with the latest test running on July 26. They have also planned the public Beta stage which will begin in November 2021.
According to a statement issued by Automaton, all development for Mavericks in the studio has ended. “Insufficient funds” was cited as the reason. It is also confirmed that Automaton itself will enter administration, the term used for companies that achieve bankruptcy in the UK.

For those of you who are not familiar with this Battle Royale game, Mavericks touted as the first truly massive multiplayer battle royale game. Previously this game was rumored to come with 200 to 400 players in one match. This game will also have a fairly wide map of 12km x 12km.
