Capcom Reportedly Completely Overhauling Resident Evil 4 Remake Development

Capcom’s preparations in releasing Resident Evil 8: Village have indeed looked ripe. Especially after they added the Resident Evil Re:Verse multiplayer game in their sales package. Although many fans are anticipating the presence of this game, not a few of them are actually diverted to other Resident Evil games. The game is none other than Resident Evil 4 Remake, which is rumored to be in development by Capcom.

The existence of this game has actually been leaked first by several reliable sources such as AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem. Rumors have strengthened again after a leak of confidential Capcom data listed Resident Evil 4 Remake as a new game project that will be released towards the end of 2022. Although there has been no official confirmation, it seems certain that the fourth series will indeed get a remake.

Information about the game resurfaced some time ago, after the media VGC received reports that Resident Evil 4 Remake development has been transferred to Capcom’s first division team. Based on previous reports, the development of Resident Evil 4 Remake was handled by M-Two, who is the developer team behind Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Capcom finally decided to switch divisions because M-Two was too focused on keeping the classic format of Resident Evil 4. You could say this is a similar approach that Resident Evil 2 Remake offers, especially from how they designed Mr. X.

Due to changes in the development team led by a new division, there is a high possibility that the game could be postponed until 2023. Whatever Capcom is preparing behind the scenes, we can only wait for official confirmation in the future.
