Rumor: Judgment Gets New Sequel, Will Bring Darker Story
SEGA’s experiment and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio to expand the Yakuza franchise through the Judgment spin-off game ended with great success. Since the release of the game for the first time in 2018 in Japan under the name Judge Eyes, this game has received a very positive reception from many fans and critics who are very satisfied with its quality, especially from the mysterious storyline which is also combined with detective-style investigative gameplay while being a brutal street fighter. The positive response that was received was also followed by fan requests for a Judgment sequel.
After a few years since the game’s debut, a rumor has emerged from the fansite The Tojo Clan if Judgment reportedly will get a sequel. At first they thought that this was just a rumor, but their confidence quickly increased after doing further research including “checking names”.
SEGA happened to have registered the “Lost Judgment” trademark which The Tojo Clan denied as the name for the sequel, only the latest source of this rumor said that the name was intended for the continuation of the sequel along with “Judgment: Seize the Truth”. This name will probably end for one of the game’s releases that may be devoted to Japan, before finally changing to another name in the western version.
Regarding the details of the game itself, the Judgment sequel will still feature Takayuki Yagami as the main character accompanied by his close friend Masaharu Kaito, and one more character whose identity is not yet known. They also said that the theme of the story in this game will be darker and put Yagami in a conflict that feels more severe for character development.
Of course, all of this is still just a rumor, but if you look at the success that the first game has achieved, then it is not impossible that SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio want to return to continue the adventures of the Yakuza-style detective into a new, more ambitious game. Let’s just wait for the development of information in the future.
