Ahead of Release, NEO: The World Ends with You Shares Lots of New Details

How familiar are you with the name The World Ends with You? The Nintendo DS JRPG game made by Square Enix, despite its age of more than a decade, is still proven to have a loyal fan base. Thanks to the consistent support that these fans continue to give, Square Enix has now expanded its franchise into various projects ranging from anime adaptations to a sequel game called NEO: The World Ends with You. Ahead of the game’s release, which is only a month away, they’ve finally returned to share a myriad of new details.

The details shared this time include a collection of screenshots that introduce the main character group Wicked Twisters, the antagonist group Shinjuku Reapers, introduction to gameplay mechanisms such as Mental Notes and Social Network, to the gameplay appearance. Regarding the game itself, NEO: The World Ends with You is a sequel that takes place a few years after the first series. In this game, players will take on the role of a young man named Rindo, the leader of the Wicked Twister who with his friends is trapped in the “Reaper’s Game”. The game still offers a unique, distinctive art style approach, but with an overhaul in terms of graphics which this time shifts to 3D with a blend of 2D styles when in conversation footage.

As for the release schedule, NEO: The World Ends with You will be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on 27 July. Square Enix also confirmed that this game will get a PC version release via the Epic Games Store which is planned to arrive this summer. Judging from their marketing strategy after bringing the Kingdom Hearts series on PC, it looks like Square Enix is getting serious about collaborating with Epic Games to bring some of its exclusive games to EGS.
