Call of Duty: Warzone Latest Update Will Reduce Game File Size

Producing a new Call of Duty game almost every year has become a tradition for Activision. Holding a position as one of the largest and most popular FPS game franchises in the world, they really don’t want to lose momentum by trying to bring a more refined gaming experience from time to time. Basically every Call of Duty game comes with a fairly solid quality, it’s just that the size of the game (especially from some of the latest series) has become increasingly swollen and has even penetrated more than 100 GB on various platforms.

In order to optimize game data, Activision has prepared a massive update that comes with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Reloaded. So starting March 30 today, Warzone has received a new update that will control the file size of the game for both the free-to-play and Modern Warfare/Warzone versions. Based on information from official website, The Season Two Reloaded update this time is indeed bigger in order to implement more new optimizations, but players don’t need to worry because the next patches will come with a smaller size.

The following is the approximate size of the game that will be reduced for each platform:

  • PS5: 10.6GB (Warzone) / 30.6GB (Modern Warfare/Warzone)
  • PS4: 10.9GB (Warzone) / 30.6GB (Modern Warfare/Warzone)
  • Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S: 14.2GB (Warzone) / 33.6GB (Modern Warfare/Warzone)
  • Xbox One: 14.2GB (Warzone) / 33.6GB (Modern Warfare/Warzone)
  • PCs: 11.8GB (Warzone) / 30.6GB (Modern Warfare/Warzone)

While this is the size of the latest Season 2 update for Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War:

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Reloaded:

  • PS5: 12.2GB
  • PS4: 7.4GB
  • Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S: 14.18GB
  • Xbox One: 9.13GB
  • PCs: 8.1GB

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2 Reloaded:

  • PS5: 52GB
  • PS4: 52GB
  • Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S: 57.8GB
  • Xbox One: 57.8GB
  • PCs: 52.4GB

The latest update brings improvements to the system settings and data optimization. Thus, players can set which Data Packs they will keep, and discard data from other game modes that are no longer played. Please also note that this reduction in data size does not need to be re-installed.
