Diablo Immortal Gets Update, Maybe Not Far From Beta
Diablo Immortal, a mobile ARPG game from Blizzard Entertainment, has received an update on their Google Play Store page.
This update came about a week ago, on September 14th. In addition, the Diablo Immortal page on Tap.io was also updated on September 15. This difference in date is due to Tap.io’s geographical position in Shanghai which is a dozen hours ahead of New York and Los Angeles.
Currently Diablo Immortal is being developed by two teams, one each from Blizzard and NetEase. They were unable to work together more closely because of the ongoing pandemic. This is probably their way of collaborating with the boundaries set by their respective countries.
According to Rhykker, a Diablo YouTuber, there seems to be some movement within the Diablo Immortal development team. “…maybe we are not too far from starting external testing, between closed beta and NDA or open beta.” he said in his September 19 video.
Diablo Immortal was previously announced at Blizzcon 2018, Blizzard Entertainment’s annual conference. In this announcement Diablo fans have been expecting the announcement of Diablo 4, a game that they hope will improve the quality of the Diablo series again. The game they got was Diablo Immortal, a game that won’t be out for PC, where all Diablo games are playable so far.
The announcement of this game was not well received by the fans who were immediately present in front of the stage. The head of the Diablo Immortal project, Wyatt Chang, was booed by the audience as he quipped at them by asking, “Don’t you guys have cell phones?”
After this huge fiasco, Blizzard announced Diablo 4 at Blizzcon 2019. With this, fans’ anger has been quelled for now.
