Team Immortals Turn Down Invitation to IEM Oakland Tournament
The League of Legends Immortals team declined an invitation to the IEM Oakland tournament which will take place on November 19-20 at Oracle Arena, San Francisco, United States. This was known on the Immortals team’s Twitter account last Monday.
“November has been a busy month for League of Legends where due to contract deadlines and team reshuffles, we are prioritizing our long-term goals over anything else, which is why we were forced to turn down an invitation to IEM Oakland to focus more on rebuilding the team for next year’s competition. ahead,” said Immortals CEO Noah Whinston.
As we all know Immortals qualified for the IEM Oakland after they finished third in the North America LCS Summer Playoffs which was held last August. Besides Immortals, Team SoloMid and Splyce also refused to participate in the IEM Oakland tournament.
The reason Team SoloMid is absent is because one of the roster, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, is temporarily taking a break to prepare for next year’s competition. Meanwhile, the Splyce team argued that the lack of preparation from the players resulted in a decrease in the standard of the game, so they were forced to refuse the invitation to IEM Oakland.
