Dev1ce Leaves Astralis, Joins Ninjas in Pajamas

One of the legendary CS:GO players Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz has officially left Astralis, the team he has played for for almost six years, and joined Ninjas in Pajamas.

The news was very surprising for CS:GO fans and no one expected dev1ce to leave the strongest CS:GO organization from Denmark, considering that he was one of the roster of founding members of Astralis since 2016.

As is well known that Astralis has experienced a decline in performance in 2021 compared to previous years, but releasing one of its star players was completely unexpected.

Astralis said the transfer was a “personal request” from the player, whose dev1ce wish to play in Stockholm, Sweden.

“COVID and everything related over the past year has been very difficult for all of us, for everyone in any career field,” said dev1ce in a press release.

“Being away from the office, not being able to meet up with teammates, being online and practicing virtually, and playing remotely has really become a challenge. It’s clear how much I miss having a team and organization close to where I live now, and other reasons why now is the perfect time to turn things around and reinvent myself in all of this.”

Kasper Hvidt, sporting director of Astralis, said “Nicolai has been a part of Astralis and was the core of the team from day one, and he has also been someone vital to the team. He is one of the best players of all time, and parting with a player like him is not easy for any team.”

The method that Ninjas in Pajamas uses in dealing with mental health is also a major factor in dev1ce’s decision to join. “Everyone who has followed me throughout my career in CS:GO knows that I’ve been through everything; from start choking (feeling under pressure when losing) and winning,” said dev1ce.

Dev1ce, with his main role as AWPer and also good at using rifles, will join a team consisting of Swedish players namely REZ, Plopski, and Hampus, and will also be able to easily communicate in Swedish for future tournaments.

“I currently live in Sweden, speak the language and am very excited to play with the young players on the NiP project,” added dev1ce.

Dev1ce joined NiP on a three-year contract. The news has been confirmed by the Swedish organization.

Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz will play in a jersey from NiP during the upcoming Regional Major Ranking Flashpoint 3 tournament. The tournament will certainly feel very different for the player who has previously won the CS:GO major tournament four times.
