Epic Games Announces Closing Paragon On April 26
Unpleasant news was announced by Epic Games where they will officially close the service of one of their multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), Paragon, on April 26, 2018. This should come as no surprise, recently Epic Games also said that some of the builders under the Paragon pool were being moved to the Fortnite pool to help grow Fortnite beyond their reach.
They said the construction of Paragon would be slowed down but in the end they decided to close the game. This thing is very disappointing for Paragon players but since the numbers are few it is a better decision for Epic Games. At least they can fully focus development on Fortnite which is increasing in number of players.
On his official blog, Epic Games said that he would be shutting down the servers on the stated date, and he also apologized to his players:
Hi all,
It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close Paragon.
We really appreciate all the effort you have put in for Paragon. We received a lot of very good ideas, to take where this game is going, the ideas have been poured out and we implemented, being one of the real proofs of the greatness of this community.
After careful consideration, and a lot of internal debate, we find it difficult to see where Paragon’s development is going to become a MOBA that has stable players.
We didn’t execute this game well so we couldn’t fulfill the promises we made through Paragon. We have disappointed you — even though the team that developed this game worked really hard — we apologize for that.
To remedy this, Epic is offering full Refunds to all Paragon players on every purchase made with this platform. This refund will be taken directly from the Epic Games pocket.
If you are a Paragon player and want to refund the in-game purchases that have been made, you can use the link here. In addition, many players assume that this is because the number of players has decreased a lot and affects the matchmaking time which is very long, and continues to decrease all the time.
Paragon itself is a MOBA game with a Third Person point of view which in 2016 was released by Epic Games as a Free to Play game with various in-game cosmetics as selling materials. But it looks like Epic Games will focus more on its existing game, Fortnite.
