It's time to rank the 10 most difficult and troublesome monsters in Monster Hunter Rise
The main excitement that Monster Hunter players feel from the beginning of their debut until now must always be related to hunting activities. Preparing equipment, tracking the whereabouts of monsters, and testing skills in subduing large and intimidating opponents, this kind of gameplay turns out to be very effective and never gets tired of attracting the attention of players.
For us, the excitement that comes from the Monster Hunter game lies in the experience of meeting monsters that are very tough and take a lot of trials to be conquered. Sounds frustrating indeed, but like playing games with a high level of difficulty like Dark Souls, there is more satisfaction to be had every time a challenge is successfully passed.
Coincidentally we’ve played Monster Hunter Rise for the past few weeks and has faced all the monsters in the game. Some are so easy to beat that they can make you sleepy, but not a few are so deceptive that they require full concentration to fight. Because it seems like an interesting idea, in this article we decided to summarize the ranking of the most difficult and troublesome monsters from Monster Hunter Rise.
This list is only based on our experience when fighting all the monsters with Sword & Shield and Dual Blade weapons rotation, so there is always the possibility that our opinion can change if we use other weapon options to Switch Skills which may be more effective.
10. Mizutsune
Having an elegant appearance and a traditional soundtrack that appears every time she fights her, Mizutsune is a monster that is suitable for being in the world of Monster Hunter Rise which is thick with Japanese themes. But behind her graceful figure and easy to make many players fall in love, Mizutsune can be a tough opponent who is very troublesome. These monsters have agile movements and can reach players from a distance quickly, moreover they can give bubble attacks that can disrupt the character’s movements for a while.
Of all the unique abilities Mizutsune has, the one that is the most dangerous for us is her jet of water which has high attack damage and is difficult to dodge. But as long as you can use Wirebug effectively to avoid attacks and do have a shield to use, then the attack will not pose a significant threat.
9. Goss Harag
This one of the newest monsters introduced in Monster Hunter Rise ends up being a more difficult threat than we thought. From the outside his figure does look like Arzuros, Lagombi or similar Fanged Beast-type monsters, it’s just that this monster is equipped with extra abilities that make it even more difficult to predict. Goss Harag can cover both of his arms into two blades of ice swords, create ice spikes, and can even beat players who try to fight him from the air. Even this has not been added from its aggressive nature and can sometimes be difficult to predict.
8. Tigrex
Tigrex had always been an opponent that could never be underestimated. The monsters introduced from the Monster Hunter Freedom 2 series are known to be very aggressive and have high attack power, and our impression of them remains the same until Monster Hunter Rise. Tigrex are Flying Wyvern-type monsters that are quite unique, as they rarely fly or use other elemental attacks. This makes it sound weaker, but what we feel is the opposite, because Tigrex’s very aggressive fighting style while on land makes it difficult for players to find gaps to heal or attack. Not to mention Tigrex’s attacks always deal high damage, so players with inadequate equipment can be easily crushed by this flying t-rex.
7. Rajang
Rajang for us is the true manifestation of the word “strength”. They don’t have a really big size, but about their strength is an opponent that must always be wary of. In addition to having an aggressive fighting style and often launching consecutive punches, Rajang also often shoots energy beams from his mouth which is sometimes difficult to predict when it will come. There is also a phase where they can increase the intensity of their power like going into Super Saiyan mode, which, as predictable, makes them even more terrifying. Luckily Rajang is a monster with easy-to-read attack patterns, so it didn’t take us long to get used to fighting them.
6. Barioth
One of our favorite design monsters is also an opponent that always evokes bad memories. We remember when we were stuck on the same hunting mission against Barioth and even asked friends for help, but still failed to defeat this ancient tiger (Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate at High Rank). Barioths aren’t really that complex of monsters, because apart from the standard physical attacks and ice elements, they relatively don’t really stand out from other aspects.
One reason we are still overwhelmed when facing Barioth is the very high level of aggressiveness of the monsters. No matter if it manages to keep a long distance, Barioth will always try to catch up with you as fast as possible without giving it time to relax. Its attack damage especially at High Rank is also very high, so we feel saved when we can use Shield, this is also because facing Barioth without defense always gives a nervous feeling.
5. Magnamalo
The lowest monster from our top five ranking is Magnamalo. The monster who is the main face of Monster Hunter Rise is indeed not a playful opponent, especially when we tried out the demo of the two games at that time we failed to complete the hunting mission against him (and even then, friends helped up to a four-player squad as well). It must be admitted that the difficulty level of the monsters was lighter in the final version of the game, but Magnamalo still gave us an uncomfortable hunting time while at High Rank.
Just like Barioth, this monster is really aggressive and will not give players a chance to protect themselves, including from attack damage that can erode your life quickly. Apart from the difficulty level which is similar to Barioth for us, one ability that makes Magnamalo feel more difficult is their power-up mode which is more difficult to overcome.
4. Zinogre
Entered in the ranks of the most iconic monsters in the franchise, Zinogre has been able to maintain that reputation well until now. To be honest, we weren’t really overwhelmed when we faced Zinogre in any Monster Hunter game, including Rise. That sense of relaxation was then dispelled when Zinogre entered the power-up mode, which enveloped his body with an electric current.
It is in this mode that we end up being easy prey, which can easily be paralyzed from her powerful attacks. And as usual, this monster can be more aggressive as long as you don’t do enough damage to stagger it and lose the power-up effect. Maybe some players feel that Zinogre is not a significant threat, but for some reason until now we are still not used to fighting this electric Wyvern.
3. Jyuratodus
The monster that was first introduced in Monster Hunter World at first glance is indeed similar to Lavasioth, except for its habitat in muddy swamps. Just like when we fought him in World, we were really irritated by Jyuratodus’s relentless nature. They aren’t the most aggressive monsters at all, but Jyuratados doesn’t seem to want to stop moving and you have to work extra hard to beat them. Difficult to predict, has a strong attack power to defense, and can also be aggressive if you want as long as it can frustrate you, this is what makes Jyuratodus end up being a monster that we gladly don’t want to fight again.
2. Khezu
Ahhh Khezu, the Flying Wyvern-type monster with the most questionable design until now. Putting aside his form that looks like a petty monster that is often the subject of jokes, for us Khezu is a dark horse that can turn laughter into anger in an instant. One thing that makes them so difficult and inconvenient to fight is their unpredictable nature.
Every time he launched an attack, Khezu never gave a signal and seemed to turn every movement of his body into an attack. This monster also has a variety of tricks that are no less troublesome, including providing various status effects to unexpected combinations of deadly attacks. Perhaps his expressionless face and slow movements were the reason why this monster was so hard to read.
1. Almudron
Finally after dealing with all the monsters in Monster Hunter Rise, the one for us who deserves the top spot as the most formidable and troublesome is none other than Almudron. In terms of difficulty level, we think this monster is a combination of Jyuratados and Khezu, both of which move too much and are difficult to predict, the only difference is that Almudron is even more troublesome than the two of them.
This monster has many attack combinations that are difficult to read, especially its habit of making it difficult for players to follow the movements of its body mixed with mud. Being able to attack his weak points effectively felt like a very draining task at High Rank. Almudron in our opinion is also a monster with the most drastic ratio of difficulty levels from Low to High Rank, because at the beginning they were not such a serious threat, at least until they entered the High Rank where this monster had entered a difficult phase again but went crazy.
Well, that’s the ranking summary of the most difficult and troublesome monsters in Monster Hunter Rise. Of course this is a version that we summarized from personal gaming experience, so everyone will have their own difficult version of the monster which can be very different. If you are faced with a dead end when facing difficult monsters, the most important tips we can give is to always maximize equipment stats at the best level, including the type of weapon that best suits your playing style.
