NetEase Empowers Southeast Asian Esports with Top Clans 2020

Top Clans 2020, an esports tournament hosted by NetEase, empowers esports in the Southeast Asia region. One of the biggest esports tournament leagues in the SEA region, Top Clans was first held last year with just one game, Rules of Survival.

The tournament had the most views for a Rules of Survival tournament to date, with 24,600,000 views. The scale of the tournament is also enormous, with nearly 1,300 teams and 5,200 players participating in the tournament. NetEase is committed to making this tournament better and bigger this year.

With a tournament like this, a career as a professional esports player is no longer just a dream in Southeast Asia. Every year the competitive gaming and esports industry gets bigger, bringing out million-dollar tournaments with huge audiences. Southeast Asia is indeed one of the fastest growing esports regions in the world. Just last year, the 2019 SEA Games had added esports as one of its medals.

In 2020, NetEase Games has set their sights on aspiring esports athletes in Southeast Asia. They want to support these communities by creating small tournaments such as the Top Clan City Circuit held in the Philippines to introduce esports Rules of Survival.

The same team behind Top Clans 2019 also launched the Identity V (IDV) Varsity Epsorts League 2020 in Thailand with a prize pool of 75,000 baht ($2,490). This tournament is held specifically for students from certain universities. More and more students are developing their skills in esports in search of a career in this field, and NetEase games is pleased to be able to open this opportunity to aspiring esports athletes of the future.

Even when this pandemic lasted, Top Clans Esports was still going on. Online tournaments have been held such as the Taong Bahay Cup and Mobile Clash for Rules of Survival to give gamers the opportunity to compete from their homes.

Community programs like these will contribute to making Top Clans 2020 the biggest esports tournament of the year. After last year’s success, NetEase will bring Top Clans with higher targets. Top Clans 2020 will bring 4 new games with a total prize of 85,000 US dollars.
