Not So Revive, EA Cancels Anthem 2.0 Project
Getting carried away in a huge wave of hype for a new game is a habit that is hard to break. Although there are several games that have finally succeeded in answering and exceeding the promised expectations, not a few have ended in total failure. At least this is what happened to Anthem, where one of the newest games from BioWare suffered a similar fate and maybe even worse than Mass Effect: Andromeda.
EA and BioWare themselves have prepared efforts to improve the game through the Anthem NEXT project, it’s just that this glimmer of hope in the end also had to be lost. So, through the latest announcement by Executive Producer – Christian Dailey, it is with a heavy heart that the game improvement project must be canceled.
Regarding the reason, Dailey explained that the development team was badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is not to mention because BioWare also wants to focus more on the development of the latest Dragon Age game, so they finally have to stop the Anthem NEXT project. Apart from these reasons, there are also other factors that might influence their decision such as satisfying fans’ expectations by providing more new content to the game, so that their commitments and priorities can be separated from the new Dragon Age project.
Even though the repair project was cancelled, players can still access Anthem’s servers and play online. But we feel that it won’t take long until the developer stops fully supporting this game. In the end Anthem was again a victim of a potential game that was carried away by great hype and met a very unfortunate ending.
Anthem itself is available and you can play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is available at a fairly affordable standard price, and there’s also a Dawn Edition version that offers extra content for a bit more price.
