Sonic Colors Looks Like It's Getting a Remaster for PS4, Xbox One and Switch
If there’s one video game mascot that can rival Nintendo’s Mario in popularity, then Sonic’s name is probably the most mentioned. It is not surprising, indeed, because these two mascots had become true rivals in the 90s, at least until Mario managed to achieve great success in his first 3D game which Sonic unfortunately did not succeed in following. Despite the loss of momentum, Sonic is still a sensational video game icon and has brought many cool games for each generation of consoles.
While waiting for the latest game project that still invites question marks, it looks like Sonic fans will have a big surprise coming in the near future. The surprise was none other than the return of Sonic Colors, one of the best games in the franchise in a remastered version. This news first appeared from the listing “Sonic Colors Remastered” at iksample which is a sound recording studio in Germany, which has been registered since December 20 last year.
New information then emerged again from the “Sonic Colors Ultimate” listing at French game retailer Sogamely. The information is that the game will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2021 at a price of € 34.99 or around IDR 600 thousand. Given that this listing has been around for a few months, maybe the official announcement of the game is closer than expected.
For those of you who are still unfamiliar with Sonic Colors, this is a modern 3D Sonic series that was previously only released exclusively on Nintendo Wii and DS. Still implementing the typical platformer gameplay from Sonic Unleashed, this game brings its own unique mechanics with unique power-ups from a creature called Wisp. Using Wisp, players can control Sonic with additional special abilities such as rolling across all terrain, breaking through the ground, increasing dash range, and much more. Thanks to a more unique gameplay approach and retaining the charm of the classic Sonic series, this game received a very positive reception and was recognized as one of the best series in the franchise.
Leaked listings like this usually end up right, so for now we can only wait for the official announcement of the game from SEGA.
