Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie Officially Announced, Confirmed to Release 2022!

Crafting a film adapting a game is a difficult challenge. We’ve even seen examples of failed projects since 1993 through the film adaptation of Super Mario Bros. Despite these doubts, not a few studios have succeeded in answering expectations and creating a game adaptation film that is right on target. For example, Paramount Pictures through the film Sonic the Hedgehog, which this film managed to beat Detective Pikachu and set the record for opening the largest game adaptation film.

With this great success, it is predictable that the film will get a sequel. And sure enough, yesterday Paramount Pictures has officially released a teaser video for the film Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This video only shows the film’s logo and the broadcast schedule which is confirmed to fall on April 8, 2022.

The teaser video is also accompanied by music that sounds like a new remix from Emerald Hill. Hopefully this is a sign that the sequel will focus more on soundtracks from classic Sonic games. This is indeed something that is quite unfortunate from the first film, where fans didn’t hear as many classic soundtracks as expected.

The presence of this sequel will definitely bring one original character as well as Sonic’s closest partner, Tails. The form of his character has even been shown in the after credits trailer of the first film Sonic the Hedgehog, where he has arrived on earth and is on a mission to find Sonic. The coolness of the plot of this film is quite in line with the original game, where Tails only appeared in the second game. It would be very interesting of course if Paramount also plans to make a third film and bring Knuckles.
