This is Project BBQ, an Anime-Style MMOARPG with High-end Graphics and Gameplay!
The Dungeon Fighter Universe Festival event in Seoul, South Korea some time ago was the best in recent years. In addition to announcing a super cool fighting game project from Arc System Works, Neople also showed a form of Project BBQ. Developed by the Neople Action Studio team and publisher Nexon, this MMOARPG game that still takes the universe from Dungeon Fighter Online was developed specifically as a successor to its ambitious series.
When viewed in terms of production value, this game is indeed very promising, especially from Unreal Engine 4 graphics to cool action gameplay. This is certainly a much more significant improvement compared to the main Dungeon Fighter Online series, which still adopts 2D beat-em-up gameplay. Instead of being curious, you can watch the second trailer video from Project BBQ below.
From the trailer above, you can see that Project BBQ is an MMOARPG with a fast-paced and more strategic gameplay base. In some battles against boss monsters you have to adjust the timing to dodge and attack. Including using the right skills to penetrate the defense. The trailer also shows the action and fighting styles of the various character classes, so you’ve got an idea of which class might be your favourite.
Apart from the new trailer video, for the time being Neople still has not shared information about when this game will be released. But if you have to guess the release platform, it’s likely that Project BBQ will be available on PC following the main DFO series. Considering that this game has also been announced since 2018, it looks like the developer still needs more development time.
For those of you who might be curious about the original game, Dungeon Fighter Online is available and can be played for free via Steam. The community base itself is still very active, especially in Asia and South Korea.
