Kim 'glow' Min-soo Retired After Vision Strikers Failed to VCT Masters

Kim “glow” Min-soo announced his retirement from VALORANT. The South Korean pro player decided to retire after his Vision Strikers team failed to qualify for the first international event — VCT Masters Reykjavík.

Vision Strikers’ achievements in the Korean domestic scene are fairly impressive. They scored an unprecedented record of 104 wins, four draws and two defeats. Ironically, they lost to NUTURN Gaming at the VCT Korea Stage Two Challengers in May, the team failed to qualify for Iceland.

“Some people may question my decision,” Glow said in today’s announcement video. “But taking into account my age and the future success of our team, I think this is the right time for me to retire.”

The in-game leaders are expected to record fewer kills and more deaths than their teammates, but have routinely performed poorly in the last few months of the competition.

“My time as a player is coming to an end and I have felt this myself especially during Challengers One and Challengers Two, where we ended up surprising a lot of people after losing I felt I had reached my limit as a player,” said Glow.

Glow has spent 13 years in the FPS scene, starting with Counter-Strike 1.6 with teams like Lunatic-hai, WeMade FOX, and Project kr before moving on to CS:GO in 2016 with MVP PK. In 2020, he tried his luck in the VALORANT scene. Armed with a wealth of competitive experience, 33-year-old Min-soo is trusted as the captain of the Vision Strikers team.

“I’m sure Vision Strikers will develop further [tanpa saya] and become an organization that not only conquers the domestic scene but also the international stage, as well as other endeavors,” he concluded.
So far, Vision Strikers has not given a candidate to replace the captain ahead of the upcoming VCT Masters Berlin.
