Epic Games sues Apple for removing Fortnite from the App Store – The Fortnite developers just filed a lawsuit against Apple. This lawsuit was caused by a requirement that Apple created in the App Store.

The developer of the game Fortnite just announced that they have filed a lawsuit against Apple over the policies set in the App Store. This lawsuit was filed by Epic Games shortly after their game was removed from the App Store. The removal of Fortnite from the App Store was caused because Fortnite violated the rules in the App Store.

For this incident, Epic Games immediately filed their lawsuit with the US District Court. The following are the lawsuits filed by Epic Games against Apple which are listed in court documents,

“Epic brings this lawsuit to end Apple’s unfair and anti-competitive actions that Apple has taken to unlawfully maintain a monopoly on two distinct billion-dollar markets: (i) iOS App Distribution Marketplace, and (ii) In-App Payment Processing. iOS Market.”

Apple Removes Fortnite from App Store

In this lawsuit, Epic Games said that they were not asking for monetary compensation. But they prefer companies to implement fair competition. Because this will certainly affect hundreds of millions of consumers and other game developers.

Epic Games said that Apple’s terms and conditions were ‘oppressive’ for game developers. Apple is known to apply a fee cut of 30% from application sales in the App Store and in-game purchases. Because of this, Epic Games lowered the price of Fortnite’s V-Bucks and allowed its players to pay directly to Epic Games. This is what made Apple finally remove Fortnite from the App Store.
