Critical! Sony PlayStation Store Suddenly Suspended in China – PlayStation Network in China for no apparent reason. Even to an uncertain time.

Even Sony said that they don’t know for sure how long they will be suspended in China.

News of the suspension of the Playstation Store in China came from a video game reporter, Daniel Ahmad. Previously, Ahmad had reported the same things as China’s National Day of Mourning. Where all gaming services for a day are closed in China. Now he’s back to reporting something bad for gamers in China.

Why PlayStation Store is Suspended in China

Ahmad claims that there are official reasons given for this suspension. The reason is to do security enhancements. Although still unclear. This theory seems to be related to what happened recently on Weibo (China’s number 1 medium like Twitter) that a gamer reported an easily accessible ‘back entrance’. Apparently the PlayStation Store was suspended after this report surfaced.

Quoting from Ahmad’s post, ‘PlayStation Store has been temporarily suspended in China at 7am on May 10, 2021. There is no definite time and date when the PlayStation Store will be active again. The official reason given is for increased security. But it’s not clear what that means’.

Ahmad also continued that an Xbox fanboy claimed on Weibo that they had reported to the Chinese authorities about the back door element. This element is very easy to access to switch to overseas services.

This problem is considered quite serious considering that PlayStation will have their latest generation console in a few months. If this problem can’t be resolved quickly, it will have an impact on the release of the PlayStation 5 in China.
