Epic Games Successfully Acquires RAD Games Tools
Epic Games recently announced that it has successfully acquired RAD Game Tools. This acquisition makes Epic Games add to their list of subsidiaries.
So, what made Epic Games buy RAD? Let’s see more information below.
RAD Game Tools itself is a developer that was formed in 1988. This company has several technologies such as Bink video code, Ooodle data compression which is already present in more than 24,600 games.
Through the official website, CEO and Founder of RAD Game Tools, Jeff Roberts said that they have been working closely with Epic Games for a long time. Of course, he was very excited after learning that his company was now merged with Epic Games.
Our goal is that the technology that RAD has allows every developer to create attractive and high-performance games. Of course, the whole team was so excited to be joining the incredible Epic team.

Meanwhile, Kim Libreri as CTO of Epic Games also commented on the acquisition.
We know that RAD compression technology will shorten load times in our game, one of them is Fortnite. The current RAD team also consists of several compression experts, video, and developers. We welcome them into the Epic exit.

Epic Games is not without reason to acquire RAD Game Tools. The reason is, they intend to integrate RAD technology into the Unreal Engine. Even so, this technology will still be able to be used by others outside the Unreal Engine.
Epic Games Buy A Mall
Prior to acquiring RAD, Epic Games last week managed to buy a mall in the North California area. The mall called Cary Towne Center will be the new headquarters for Epic Games.
This mall has an area of about 95 hectares and is very suitable for shopping headquarters. Moreover, this mall is reportedly no longer operating and all stores have shifted their business to the Online Store. To be able to get the mall, Epic spent $ 95 million or Rp 1.3 trillion from Turnbridge Equities and Denali Properties.
