Genshin Impact Confirms Zhongli is a Support Character

Last December 1, 2021, Genshin Impact officially launched two more new characters that are still part of the 1.1 update. One of them is a 5-star character named Zhongli. Interestingly, after Zhongli officially became a playable character, there were pros and cons between players. Some players think that Zhongli is a weak character.

Players who are disappointed because Zhongli is weak, even though he is a character in the main story. The disappointment of the players finally reached miHoYo’s ears and made them finally release an official statement.

Long story short, in the statement miHoYo also explained their views on character development in Genshin Impact. Initially, they did develop Zhongli as a supporting character or support in the game.

First, miHoYo wish Genshin Impact have different mechanics. Although most of the characters in Genshin Impact based on massive damage, Zhongli’s role wasn’t like that. Zhongli was not made to attack the enemy but to support other party members and control the enemy’s movements. miHoYo also explained that Elemental Skill and Burst had been developed in such a way that they could protect the party efficiently. The data also shows that Zhongli fulfills this role, as players who use it in their party have a higher survival rate.

According to the schedule, Genshin Impact will come back with the next major update in version 1.2 update. Update 1.2 is planned to be launched on December 23. The Genshin Impact update version 1.2 will add a new area called Dragonspine, new missions, and content that is currently undetermined.
