Offlane Bloodseeker So Broken Since Latest Dota 2 Patch
Offlane Bloodseeker was used as a strategy by Team Secret to slaughter OG. Is this hero really broken?
The Dota 2 OMEGA League tournament which just ended on August 28 was surprised by an interesting match between Team Secret and OG. Team OG only managed to get 12 kills, and the next match was dominated by Secret in less than an hour.
The secret? Debut Bloodseeker offlane from Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg.
In Patch 7.27b, Thirst and Bloodrage were changed and resulted in win rate low for Bloodseeker heroes. Many even considered him the weakest hero in Dota 2. Fortunately, Valve decided to provide a buff in the next patch. Since then, many have used Bloodseeker as a carry and mid.
But, who would have thought that Bloodseeker would become an OP hero, especially when used as an offlane?

Bloodseeker Secret vs OG Offlane Strategy
In the OMEGA League, Bloodseeker is only selected once as a safelane carry before used by the Secret Zai team twice in a row against OG. Since then, Dota 2 fans (even pro players) are aware of Bloodseeker’s potential in the offflane position.
Build Bloodseeker Zai uses in the game are Boots of Speed, Veil of Discord, Eul’s Scepter, and Guardian Greaves.
Boots of Speed and Veil of Discord provide mana regeneration, which is useful for maximizing Bloodseeker’s Blood Rite. This can help in farming and wave clearing. Since patch 7.23, this item provides spell damage so it is suitable to be combined with Blood Rite.
In terms of strategy, Zai focuses on magic damage and spells, and uses less autoattack than when using Bloodseeker as a Carry / Midlaner. In addition, he can also be more active in roaming. Eul’s Scepter itself is a useful item to prepare for Blood Rite silence.
Not to mention added the Rupture skill from Bloodseeker which is very annoying. This skill is difficult to counter with magic immunity or dispel. To utilize Rupture effectively, Secret combines the skill with Tiny’s support, to Toss the target several times. With these two skill combos, the enemy is guaranteed to die.

Since this strategy was used by Secret, Bloodseeker was selected twice in OMEGA League: Immortal Division, including in OG vs. Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses vs. Virtus Pro on August 29th. Even in public matches, Bloodseeker’s pick rate rose rapidly with a win rate of over 50 percent, according to Dotabuff. This is proof that Bloodseeker is indeed an effective hero for offlane!
The OMEGA League will continue until September 6. So, you can expect some pro players to use this strategy.
