Only Holds Half a Year, Sakura Kakumei Mobile Game Will Be Permanently Shut Down

Taking advantage of the momentum from the rising popularity of the Sakura Wars franchise thanks to the release of its newest game on the PlayStation 4, it is unfortunate that SEGA and developer Delightworks had to shut down the Sakura Kakumei: Hanasaku Otome-tachi server. The game, which was developed as the latest mobile RPG from the Sakura Wars franchise, only debuted about 6 months ago, and now the game is on the verge of permanent closure.

This announcement was delivered directly by the developer via email the game’s official website, where they will close the server completely at the end of June. The process will begin with the removal of access for the purchase of “Spiricle Crystals” starting April 22 today, which will then be followed by the end of June with the closing of the server and the opening of refund access with full details that will follow.

The reason for the closing of the game, which was only short-lived, was due to decreased interest, aspects of playability, and support for future development that did not meet the target. Although at the beginning the enthusiasm that he managed to build was quite high with marketing that included an anime adaptation project as well, but all of that did not seem to guarantee the developer to maintain a community base and active players that continued to erode.

This news can also have its own impact on the Sakura Wars franchise, where SEGA may take more careful consideration before exploring this franchise again in the future.
