French language TV station TV5 MONDE received news that the Paris Saint-Germain team, which recently formed an esports organization, would disburse €20 million for the division. The large funds were disbursed with one goal, namely to win…

All esports competitions that Paris Saint-Germain participate in. As we know, on October 20, Paris Saint-Germain officially entered the realm of esports and then recruited two professional FIFA 17 players and appointed veteran LoL player Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim to become the head of Paris Saint-Germain’s esports division.

Broadcaster from TV5 MONDE did not mention where the news source and the €20 million investment figure came from, but many doubted the validity of the news. Responding to the news circulating, a spokesperson from PSG denied the news on the Reddit forum and said that they have funds for the PSG League of Legends team but not as big as stated, and the original goal was only to qualify for the LCS qualification.

Many think that €20 million is an initial investment, not the operating costs of Paris Saint-Germain’s esports division. As we all know, to only compete in the Challenger Series, PSG disbursed $70,000 to buy a spot from Team HUMA.
