Pokemon Legends: Arceus is open-world, gameplay first revealed!

Prior to this, we didn’t know much about Pokemon Legends: Arceus but finally, The Pokemon Company shared more gameplay information during today’s Pokemon Presents broadcast.

The trailer above showcases some of the surroundings including the beaches, forests, and snowy mountains of Hisui’s territory – which would eventually become Sinnoh’s territory. Exploration is the main focus in gameplay, where we can ride Pokemon to make traveling easier. For the storyline, this focuses on the Galaxy Expedition Team. You’ll meet Professor Laventon who studies Pokemon ecology, Captain Cyllene of the Survey Corps, and Commander Kamado of the expeditionary force. Players will join this expedition and create a campsite, where we can buy or create necessities.

Among other things shown in the open-world gameplay of Pokemon Legends: Arceus is that we can manually throw Poke Balls at wild Pokemon to catch them. Some Pokemon will react differently to the game, whereas some Pokemon will probably run away. To avoid this from happening, you need to hide in the tall grass to catch them.

Players can start a battle by throwing a Poke Ball at a wild Pokemon. To the right of the screen, we can see in which order they will move, but some decent Pokemon may be able to act more than once. Next, your Pokemon will be able to choose between “strong style” for additional but slower power, or “agile style” for faster but less powerful attacks. That was all that was exposed for the battle system. In addition, new Pokemon such as Wyrdeer, Basculegion, Braviary and Growlithe (Hisui’s variant) were also introduced. At the same time, the three starter Pokemon to choose from are Oshawott, Cyndaquil, and Rowlette.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus will launch on January 28, 2022 on the Nintendo Switch. For now, pre-orders for the game are open. For all our coverage of Pokemon, please hit this link.

Trainers will have the opportunity to explore the Sinnoh region in a new way — by traveling back in time in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Long before the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl events, the game will allow players to wander Sinnoh to encounter wild Pokémon and complete the region’s first Pokédex. And while Mount Coronet looms over the region, it means that you’re in Sinnoh, the Pokémon you encounter in this era may be different from those you remember in other games in the same area. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch early next year.
