PS4 7.0 Beta Update Begins, Here are the Details
Sony has started the beta stage for the PS4 7.0 update, which will be the next big upgrade to the system and probably the last one before the PS5 release next year. Players entering the beta stage should receive an invitation in some detail that will allow them to test the update’s new features and provide feedback.
Among the features that are present for the PS4 7.0 update, one of them is the push feature for the limit of the 8 player chat system to 16 players. As multiplayer games evolved, they also accommodated larger groups. This feature was created to anticipate the possibility that future games will add content that allows more players to participate in the game.
Along with the increased chat volume, the PS4 7.0 update will also add functionality that allows the update to complete without restarting the PlayStation console. As it stands now, the system update for PS4 also restarts the system, forcing the game out of standby mode. It’s a bit of a hassle, but going through faster system updates will definitely be an advantage.
While those are the two features highlighted in the PS4 7.0 update, beta-stage players can also make brightness adjustments to HDR-compatible content. Some games offer brightness and black level adjustments for HDR, but not all games do. With this feature, players will be able to ensure that their HDR games look their best on their HDR monitor or TV. Presumably, if this feature is at the system level, it can also be used to tune video content to play on the PS4 such as via Netflix or a Blu-Ray drive.
