Super Nintendo World Scheduled to Open Early 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic has indeed thrown all sectors into chaos. One of those affected is of course the tourism sector. This makes Nintendo’s plans to open Super Nintendo World even more unclear. Nintendo did plan to open a Super Nintendo World theme park at Universal Studio Japan since early 2021. But who would have thought, the COVID-19 pandemic ruined the plan and forced Nintendo to postpone it.

Now Nintendo finally has a schedule for the opening of Super Nintendo World. After months of uncertainty, Super Nintendo World is scheduled to open in early 2021. Super Nintendo World will begin to open to the public on February 4, 2021 and you can enjoy it by visiting Universal Studios Japan directly.

This Osaka-based attraction will focus on “Physical and interactive experiences” and will also have shops, cafes and unique experiences for visitors especially Nintendo fans to enjoy. Visitors will receive a bracelet upon entering Super Nintendo World that allows them to collect virtual coins and character stamps, as well as offering the opportunity to team up with other visitors to defeat bosses.

One of the main attractions in Super Nintendo World is Mario Kart: Koopa’s Circuit. Based in the Bowser’s Castle area, this Augmented Reality (AR) experience allows visitors to virtually drive a Mario Kart-style Kart. Visitors can ride in a lifelike kart and put on a pair of Google Super Mario AR. Then visitors will “depart from Bowser castle and race while enjoying different views such as lava surface, underwater, spooky areas, Rainbow Road, and more.

While enjoying the ride on the rails, visitors still have control to collect power-ups and other items. It should be noted however that there is no guarantee that every racer will win their race and each experience will be unique.
