These are the Official Pokemon Video Game Championship Rules

Pokemon Sword and Shield now finally has its own league. The existence of Gigantamax also seems to affect the strategy and tactics that must be done by each player. The competition, which will be run from January 4, 2021, will have a special format that must be followed by all players.

  • Format: Doubles.
  • All players are required to have a physical or digital copy of the game Pokemon Sword and Shield.
  • All participating Pokemon are required to have a Galar Symbol indicating they were obtained in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
  • All Pokemon from Pokedex Galar are allowed to participate, with the exception of some Mytical Pokemon and some Legendary Pokemon.
  • All Pokemon will be set to Level 50, including those that have not yet reached level 50.
  • It is not allowed to register the same 2 Pokemon.
  • Not allowed to register 2 same Held Items.
  • All matches will have a 90 second preview phase before starting.
  • All matches last 15 minutes. Both players have 7 minutes with 45 seconds to make choices in each round.

In addition to the above regulations, next year’s competition also has some special regulations regarding Gigantamax. Based on the conditions and the number of Gigantamax that will continue to grow every month, this match will only allow a few Gigantamax to participate in the competition later. The following Pokemon Gigantamax are allowed to be registered to compete.

  1. Butterfree
  2. Corviknight
  3. Drednaw
  4. Contiscorch
  5. Meowth
  6. Pikachu
  7. Eevee
  8. Snorlax
  9. Sandaconda
  10. Charizard (only with Ability Blaze)

What Pokemon do you think will excel next year? Right now it seems that the Ground based team with Tyranitar and Excadrill still dominates. Will this combination continue to be a trend at the beginning of the year?
