Hayao Miyazaki is a 79-year-old animator from Japan. As one of the founders of studio Ghibli, he is not only good at making anime, but also as a filmmaker, screenwriter, writer and mangaka. Miyazaki has loved anime since he was a child. In 1963 he joined Toei Animation which managed to make the famous film Gulliver’s Travels Beyond the Moon.

1. Spirit Away
Spirit Away or Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi was released on July 27, 2001 in Japan. This film tells the story of a girl who enters the spirit world when she and her parents are trying to find their way home. At first they thought it was just a village that had been abandoned by its inhabitants. But it turns out that the village is the border between the human world and the spirit world.
This film managed to attract as many as 23 million viewers and managed to make a profit of 30 billion yen or around more than 3 trillion rupiah. It managed to succumb to the profits made from the Titanic film. Spirit Away’s success was also proven by winning an Oscar in 2002 for best animation. 2. Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke is 134 minutes long and tells the story of the battle against the spirits who are trying to destroy the village. 3. Howl’s Moving Castle
Released in 2004, Howl’s Moving Castle is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones. This anime film was delayed because at first this anime was not directed by Miyazaki but by Mamoru Hosoda. Howl’s Moving Castle tells the story of a girl named Sophie who is cursed to become a 90 year old grandmother. This is an anime drama that tells the story of two teenage boys who fall in love with each other. But one day the man discovers that they have the same father.
6. Pony
It is an anime by Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli that was released exactly four years after Howl’s Moving Castle. Ponyo tells the story of a baby fish who wants to turn into a human so that he can continue to be with Sosuke. Ponyo adapted from the story The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. But in a press conference at the Vinine Film Festival, he asserted that Ponyo is nothing like The Little Mermaid. Miyazaki changed many things and moved the setting of the anime to present-day Japan.
