Replace MSI 2020, Riot Games Prepares Showmatch! | SPIN
Last April, Riot Games officially announced that the 2020 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) which was initially postponed to June was completely canceled. The reason is the corona virus pandemic (COVID-19) which has not improved so that MSI 2020 cannot be held.
This step is taken by Riot Games to maintain the safety of all players, teams, organizers, stakeholder and the League of Legends community in Korea to minimize transmission of COVID-19.
However, the League of Legends community will not feel empty because of it event Riot Games has been canceled. In exchange, Riot Games will prepare showmatch to replace the canceled MSI 2020.

Riot Games Korea is getting ready to host showmatch This is because the teams from LCK and LPL took the initiative to hold an exhibition match so that May is not empty of the match schedule in Korea.
This idea started with T1 CEO Joe Marsh who invited 3 LCK teams (T1, Gen.G and DragonX) and the LPL team (JD Gaming, TOP Esports and FunPlus Phoenix) to make an exhibition match. This was stated by Joe Marsh via his personal Twitter account.
Riot Games Korea is happy to accept the idea from the CEO of T1, especially seeing the enthusiasm of the Korean League of Legends community who want to see the exhibition match and want Invictus Gaming and Damwon Gaming to also participate.

We hope this competition can be a worthy prize for the community who is currently battling the COVID-19 outbreak. ” obviously the Korean Riot Games are like quoted from Invenglobal.
In addition to replacing MSI 2020, this match can also be used as a substitute for Rift Rivals, which the community always awaits every year.
