Washington Wizards star shooting guard Bradley Beal reportedly said he will not participate in the 2019-20 season NBA restart in Orlando due to an injury to his right rotator cuff, according to his team who announced today.
“It is a difficult decision and I do not take this team leader lightly,” said Beal. “I want to help my teammates compete for a playoff place in Orlando, but also understand that this will be the best for all of us in the long term.

“I appreciate the support from my teammates, the fans and the entire organization and look forward to returning next season to continue the progress we’ve made. “
Beal is the second Wizards star player to come out of the restart after team-mate Davis Bertans was the first high-profile player to do so last month. Bertans cited re-injury concerns after suffering two major injuries earlier in his career and is on the verge of a new contract.
His coach, Scott Brooks, said Beal looked physically ready on the day but noted that the decision would ultimately fall down to how he felt about his conditioning. Injuries came as a surprise, he is also still in his rehab in his previous injury reports.

“Bradley did everything possible to be ready to play, but after closely monitoring his individual training we came to the conclusion that it was best for him not to play in the upcoming game in Orlando and avoid risking further injury,” said Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard.
