Elden Ring Planned to be Released Early in 2022?

The increasing popularity of From Software as the originator of the Souls Like sub-genre has put them in the ranks of the most consistent game developers today. After successfully winning the Game of the Year (GOTY) award from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, now extraordinary attention is also on their most ambitious game project, Elden Ring. The news about the game is still very minimal and invites mystery, but recently there was a new report confirming the estimated release schedule.

This report comes from Kadokawa Corporation which is the Parent Company of From Software. They include details about the planned release of the game before the end of March 2022. If according to what was conveyed, it looks like Elden Ring will be released in less than 12 months and the release schedule could be targeted for early 2022 (around January to March).

Kadokawa’s report was surprisingly open about this.

They expect lower revenue for the year ending March 31, 2022 and they cite delayed releases as a factor

Actually there is a plan to release the game in 2021, it’s just that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic makes them have to postpone it to a more suitable schedule. We predict that the game will likely be showcased again at E3 which will be held in June. In addition to the inaugural gameplay trailer, they will of course also share information about the release schedule, sales package bundles and other additional details. Fingers crossed!

Incidentally there is also a leaked six-second video showing the in-game appearance of Elden Ring. The video, which has been widely circulated in various forums, turned out to be fake, and seemed to have been made just to attract attention. This is certainly different from the leaked gameplay video in March which turned out to be legit.

Elden Ring is currently still in development and has yet to get a definite release schedule. Regarding the availability of the platform, this game will be present on the current generation console and PC.
