After Almost 4 Years, The Last Secret 'NieR: Automata' Has Been Found
Starting from the successor to the original Nier series which was less popular in its time, who would have thought that NieR: Automata would end up as one of Square Enix’s most successful games in the last decade. How come? NieR: Automata has a lot of surprise elements. Starting from the complex storyline with many ending options, to the very solid action gameplay created by the PlatinumGames developer. Its strong appeal makes this game still in the spotlight and continues to penetrate new sales targets every year.
Even though it has been released for almost four years, it turns out that NieR: Automata still has one hidden secret that is still undiscovered. Many fans have done a thorough search and continue to speculate, but no results are seen. When everything seemed impossible, a game modder named Lance McDonald finally managed to find the long-sought secret.
I found a cheat code in NieR Automata that allows you to skip to the last ending immediately after killing the first boss and unlock the bonus modes. I’ll do a full video soon. It’s not a glitch, it’s an actual cheat code hard-coded into the engine. @yokotaro pic.twitter.com/FtuNPovq6F

Through the latest post on his Twitter account, McDonald admitted that he found some kind of Cheat Code that allowed him to skip the game progress to the end of the story. He triggers this cheat by standing at a certain spot and executing a command like a traditional game cheat. After a while he managed to get into the final portion of one of the main endings.
The Japanese NieR account confirmed that the cheat code I found in the game is the “last secret” that had been teased years ago. https://t.co/IZZUswAec9

Not long after being uploaded, the post got a Retweet from Yoko Taro who is the director behind the game. The official NieR Japan Twitter account also confirmed that the last secret of NieR: Automata has been found and warned of spoilers. When asked about how he found this cheat, McDonald only replied that he had spent hundreds of hours reverse-engineering the game.
NieR: Automata is available and playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For those who already have the next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, you can play the game to get extra performance.
