In preparation for Esports as an Exhibition sport at the 2018 Asian Games, the Asian Esports Federation or AeSF, according to the plan, will meet with Mr. Erick Thohir, president of the 2018 Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) in January 2018.
The meeting, which will take place in January 2018, will discuss the preparation of esports at the 2018 Asian Games, as well as the support from the president of AeSF, Sheikh sultan bin Khalifa Al nahyan Al shakhbut, for esports as an official sport at the biggest sporting event in Asia. .
The Esports preparation meeting at the 2018 Asian Games will also be attended by the general chairman of the Indonesian Esports Association (IeSPA), namely Mr. Eddy Lim and the secretary general of the Asian Esports Federation (AeSF), namely Mr. Loghman Shavarany from Iran.
After the election of Mr. Eddy Lim as one of the Vice Presidents of AeSF in September 2017, it is hoped that Indonesia can play an important role in the development of esports in the Asian region.
And Esports at the 2018 Asian Games is expected to be a milestone for Esports to be able to stand on a par with other sports in the world.
For information, in a press conference held by the Olympic Council of Asia or OCA, a few months ago, it was announced that at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta/Palembang, an exhibition will be held for a new sport, namely Esports.
And according to the plan, at the 2022 Asian games to be held in Hangzhou, esports has become an official sport to compete for medals.
