Extra Surprise, Sonic Colors Get Remastered and Animated Film Series!

Following leaked listings from several sources that appeared last April, it turns out that the existence of the remastered version of Sonic Colors is indeed true. This surprise was announced through the livestream event Sonic Central 30th Anniversary which was held last night, where they officially announced the remastered version with the title Sonic Colors Ultimate for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

This re-release offers a variety of revamps and new content. So in addition to sharper graphic quality, there are additional features and new game modes that fans can anticipate. It is also said that there are improvements to the gameplay mechanism that are made more responsive and ready to add to the fun of playing.

In addition to the remastered version, fans are still spoiled with one more new surprise, namely the announcement of a short animated film series titled Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps. The animated series will be divided into two parts, with the first episode ready to air this summer. Interestingly, this animated series again involves the role of Roger Craig Smith as the voice of Sonic.

For those of you who are still unfamiliar with Sonic Colors, this is a modern 3D Sonic series that was previously only released exclusively on Nintendo Wii and DS. Still implementing the typical platformer gameplay from Sonic Unleashed, this game brings its own unique mechanics with unique power-ups from a creature called Wisp. Using Wisp, players can control Sonic with additional special abilities such as rolling across all terrain, breaking through the ground, increasing dash range, and much more. Thanks to a more unique gameplay approach and retaining the charm of the classic Sonic series, this game received a very positive reception and was recognized as one of the best series in the franchise.

If you can’t wait for the game, Sonic Colors Ultimate will be released on September 7th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (Epic Games). Meanwhile, the animated series Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps will air its first episode this summer.
