FIFA president hints that esports is a vision for the future

The president of the world football organization (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, recently launched an esports program titled “FIFA 2.0: The Vision for the Future.” According to Infantino the aim of this program is to further improve FIFA’s football game…

As well as increasing the love of football for fans and players to form a strong community. As part of this program, FIFA will also establish a working group commission with the aim of capturing a share of the esports market which is currently on the rise.

As we all know, in 2015 FIFA earned almost USD 1 billion in revenue, and they are still trying to grab a bigger share by taking advantage of the popularity of FIFA video games and the FIFA Interactive World Cup tournament.

The working group formed is also tasked with finding opportunities and developing business strategies, which ensures FIFA is responsive to current trends and can quickly adapt to emerging trends in the Esports industry.

The plan that underlies Infantino’s decision to expand FIFA’s presence in esports is the success of obtaining royalties from FIFA’s game license agreement, in this case FIFA looks one step ahead of similar games, namely Pro Evolution Soccer (PES). This partnership therefore allows FIFA to remain part of the growing esports community.
