Free Demo Release, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Can Be Played Starting Today!
Despite its status as a little-known niche JRPG franchise, Ys is actually one of the oldest RPG franchises that has inspired many popular games of its time. Thanks to the presence of the Ys VIII series: Lacrimosa of Dana which became a huge hit, the existence of this franchise is finally getting recognized. This is also the moment where Ys finally started to get a lot of newcomer fans.
Approaching the launch of its newest series entitled Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for the western region, publisher NIS America finally brought a surprise by releasing a free demo version that can be downloaded from now on. A demo that is only available exclusively on PlayStation Store it offers short game sessions and a choice of two levels. You can also experiment with new Gifts and Monsters that have their own unique playstyle.
For veteran Ys players who want an extra challenge, they can also directly access the highest difficulty level, namely Lunatic. It’s just that as additional information, you will only be given about 10 minutes of playing time for each session before being thrown into the main menu. It is possible that this demo version is the same as the one used by Falcom developers to showcase their games at event booths such as TGS.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox itself is the latest game in the Ys series which tells the story of Adol’s adventurer in a prison town called Balduq. After being arrested on charges for the disappearance of Romun’s troop fleet at Atlas Ocean, Adol must languish in prison. His destiny then changed after he managed to escape from prison and met a mysterious woman who gave him new powers. A mysterious power that turns him into the incarnation of Monstrum.
Can’t wait for the game? Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is scheduled to be released globally on February 2, for PlayStation 4. While the release of the PC and Nintendo Switch versions will follow next summer.
