Game Review Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
Here gamers will be invited to uncover the mysteries that surround Mt. The mysterious Hikami, as well as the gruesome rituals related to “drowning someone alive”. You will experience this from the point of view of 3 different characters, namely Yuri Kozukata, Ren Hojo, and Miu Hinasaki, who came to the location with different goals but ultimately led them to the same horror. Although it is undeniable that the storyline in Maiden of Black Water is not as good as Crimson Buterfly, for example, gamers will still be treated to a storyline that is quite interesting and quite gripping.
In terms of gameplay, Maiden of Black Water presents a game that is quite solid and challenges gamers to be more patient and wait for the right moment, before taking pictures of the curious spirits that attack you. Moreover, this time to produce a Fatal Frame attack requires tighter timing, but as compensation, we can find various other methods to produce a capable attack. Combined with the movement of each character that feels a bit stiff – as in other Fatal Frame games, this can increase the tension felt by players. Especially when you are in a tight place that makes it difficult for you to keep your distance from the opponent!!
Interestingly, this time the encounter with the ghosts gave a distinct impression because after being defeated, we can find out the background of their lives before becoming astral beings. Moreover, most of them have tragic background stories – because most of them died by suicide – so that more or less they have their own influence on the emotions of players. Combined with Yuri Kozukata’s ability to uncover the “past” of an object and provide useful information, all of these make your adventure feel challenging even though we have to go back and forth to various places that have been visited before. Well, at least for those who want to know the full story of Maiden of Black Water…
Although gradually gamers will become immune to the various “appearances” that occur during the game, but Maiden of Black Water is still able to present quite thrilling surprises. So even though it still has shortcomings in a number of areas, especially the battles that lack innovation so that over time it feels repetitive, this latest Fatal Frame game will still provide a gripping but challenging gaming experience. Unless you play it with a bonus Bikini costume and a Gravure Bikini deng, which actually spoils the atmosphere!! My Matt…
