It's definitely going to be more OP, here are the new details from Buff Zhongli in Genshin Impact

Looking at the series of 5-star characters that have been present in Genshin Impact until now, Zhongli is probably the one that brought the most hype and disappointment from the fans. Geo Archon who has a cool appearance and fighting style turns out to be quite weak as a DPS or Support character. Therefore, many fans continue to push for new changes to make Zhongli more relevant.

The complaints from the fans have finally been heard by miHoYo and they are currently trying to rebalance for Zhongli. Through the latest update they shared, miHoYo explained some of the new changes they provided to make Zhongli stronger. Good when used in Geo parties, non-Geo parties, and co-op scenarios with other players.

miHoYo had time to inform that the Elemental Skill “Dominus Lapidis” which is activated by holding the skill will give Stone Stele and strengthen the shield effect. Jade Shield that is successfully activated will also reduce the enemy’s elemental and physical RES by 20%. This buff effect really helps other players to give extra damage to the enemy when Dominus Lapidis’ shield is active.

With this latest buff, it looks like Zhongli will become a support character who can answer fans’ expectations. We actually didn’t manage to get to Zhongli and didn’t quite understand his potential power. But after looking around the community, it turns out that there are many players who can push Zhongli’s potential with the right build.

Genshin Impact is now available and you can play for free on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile (Android and iOS). For the latest buff changes, Zhongli will later be present in Update 1.3 along with a myriad of additional content to new events.
