LawBreakers Game is No Longer Free to Play, and Exclusive to Steam
In today’s Game Developer Choice event, it was revealed that the LawBreakers game is no longer free to play or is now paid for, this was stated directly by Boss Key Productions. They explained that this free game model would no longer be realistically applied later to this LawBreakers game. According to them, it is not true that they will later make profits from various in-game purchases and sales tactics like that, although it is still rumored that there will be cosmetic or decorative items that can be purchased in the game. Art Director of this game Tramell Isaac himself stated that the free game model to be played as usual will actually damage the game itself because it is oriented only to seek profit, not how to produce a good quality game.
One good information is that later this LawBreakers game does not need a launcher to run it. Although this sounds strange because it will be exclusive to Steam only. Boss Key reasoned that this launcher system would be very inconvenient because to play alone, you have to do more than 3 steps to get into the game. And you need to know together that LawBreakers can already be seen on the Steam page with an estimated release time of this summer. Talking about the price, the Boss himself estimates that the maximum price tag is around 60 USD. Later it is planned that this price tag will follow like the CSGO or Overwatch games.
At GDC today, there is a lot of discussion about the journey of the LawBreakers game since it was first announced in August last year. In less than a year, many development processes have been running and according to the previous plan. However, there is still much to be done for this one game. According to Boss Key, they are working on making this game have its own and unique identity so that it is different from other games, namely Overwatch. Boss Key will try to bring a different playing experience through this LawBreakers.
Some of the changes and developments can be seen from the game logo below. You can still see this logo on the official website and it hasn’t changed anymore. According to Boss Key, they wanted to display a little ‘cartoon’ element through the logo. Boss Key itself is working on various improvements in the game and the game map. Reportedly they are working on a major overhaul of the characters and game maps in the game later. This can be seen in one of the Japanese-themed game maps that have been redesigned to make it look even more ‘dark’ and modern.
