Mangaka Kaguya-sama is willing to take a hiatus to compete in the Apex Legends Tournament
The Apex Legends fever in Japan seems to be getting stronger every day. After the increase in the popularity of the game after being played by Virtual Youtubers, now the competitive game from EA and Respawn Entertainment already has the second largest community base in Japan after the United States. Apart from ordinary gamers, interest in the game is also felt by many well-known figures. One of them is Aka Akasaka, where the popular mangaka figure behind the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War series turns out to be an active player in Apex Legends.
Because of his great interest in the game, Akasaka was even willing to take a temporary hiatus to participate in the Apex Legends tournament. This announcement has actually been made since last February, where Akasaka said that he would participate in the Crazy Raccoon Apex Legends Cup tournament. His participation was also accompanied by popular VTuber Nishizono Chigusa and professional player Selly.

This information was only discovered by some fans after Weekly Young magazine confirmed that the 16th issue of Kaguya-sama’s manga, which was published last week, was forced to take a temporary break. Publishing the new manga will continue in issue 17 which will only be published on March 25.
It’s interesting to see how a competitive game from the west like this can become popular in Japan. And it also shows how VTuber can have a strong influence if it is related to the trend of the games he plays.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, this is a comedy and romance genre manga series that has been published since 2015. Thanks to a fresh, entertaining storyline, and seasoned with strong drama, this series finally got an anime adaptation from studio A-1 which also ended up being very successful and received a positive response.
