MotoGP eSport Championship 2021 Comes with New Format

MotoGP has now entered the world of esports. The MotoGP Esports Championship will return in 2021, with an expanded format and new challenges designed to ‘test the skills of players from around the world’.

The MotoGP Esports Championship will kick off on March 18, 2021 with the Pro Draft. Players will compete through 4 Online Tournaments to advance to the next competition phase, Pro Draft Selection. A total of 25 names will qualify for the next stage, this includes the top 22 players from the Online Tournament along with the 3 winners of last year’s New Star Series.

Not only that, this time they will also vote through social media for the period 3 – 11 February 2021. The players will choose one of 12 names on social media, including Mick Doohan, Kevin Schwantz, and Max Biaggi.

This year’s Global Series will consist of 8 Races held in 4 rounds from May to November. The Grand Finals will again be held at Valencia and the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana.

The Global Series actually aims to move competition from online to on-site in May, with players vying for the Championship crown and various prizes, such as the BMW M performance car as the first prize, provided by MotoGP eSport partner BMW M.
