NBA Miami Heat Organization Decides To Invest In Misfits Team

Miami Heat is an NBA franchise that is just getting involved in the Esports industry. The organization has acquired a stake in the Esports organization Misfits for an undisclosed amount.

This acquisition places the Miami Heat as the main investor of Misfits, assisting with branding, sponsorship, and promotion, among other tasks.

“The Miami Heat is proud to be innovative in all aspects of sport and business,” Miami Heat Chief Executive Officer Nick Arison said in a statement. “For us, it made sense to partner with Misfits, a young and ambitious franchise in sport that shines in terms of recreational competition in the 21st century.”

Misfits currently has teams competing in League of Legends, Heroes of Storm, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Super Smash Bros.

“Misfits is delighted to partner with the Heat organization,” said Misfits CEO and Co-Founder Ben Spoont. “This partnership will be the catalyst and foundation for our continued expansion from the Misfits organization to a global Esports brand and enterprise. The Heat are innovators and leaders in traditional sports and will help Misfits to unlock meaningful value across all aspects of our business.”

This investment follows the Philadelphia 76ers who took their breakthrough move to Esports last year, and took on both Team Dignitas and Apex Gaming.
