NEO: The World Ends with You Announces Release Schedule, PC Gets Also!
Starting from the Nintendo DS JRPG game made by Square Enix which managed to become a big sensation with a loyal fan base, now the popularity of The World Ends with You has reached a higher level. In addition to getting an anime adaptation project that began airing today, there is also a sequel to the game entitled NEO: The World Ends with You which presents stories to new characters.
Following the official announcement of the game last year, Square Enix has finally shared various interesting details, from the gameplay trailer to the certainty of the release schedule. The new gameplay trailer this time is 3 minutes long and shows lots of details of the story, gameplay, to the teaser of the appearance of Neku Sakuraba who is the protagonist of the first game. Instead of being curious, just watch the new trailer below (English and Japanese versions):
As for the release schedule, NEO: The World Ends with You will be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 27. Square Enix also confirmed that this game will get a PC version release via the Epic Games Store which is planned to arrive this summer. Judging from their marketing strategy after bringing the Kingdom Hearts series on PC, it looks like Square Enix is getting serious about collaborating with Epic Games to bring some of its exclusive games to EGS.
Regarding the game itself, NEO: The World Ends with You is a sequel that takes place a few years after the first series. In this game, players will take on the role of a young man named Rindo, the leader of the Wicked Twister who with his friends is trapped in the “Reaper’s Game”. The game still offers a unique, distinctive art style approach, but with an overhaul in terms of graphics which this time shifts to 3D with a blend of 2D styles when in conversation footage.
Still about The World Ends with You, as we mentioned above anime adaptation started broadcasting today. The anime adaptation was done by Studio Shin-Ei Animation and domerica, which although they don’t have a great track record, they managed to translate the unique artystyle of the original game into a very unique and pleasing animation form. To maintain its originality, the studio even managed to get voice actors from the original game to return to fill their roles.
