No longer a joke, Nekopara gets an Otome genre spin-off game

April Fools’ Day is arguably the funniest and most annoying moment every year. There are so many parties who take advantage of this moment as a venue to enliven the atmosphere, including game developers. Today there are many developers who share their unique and cool April Fools’ jokes, but one that is quite interesting comes from the developer NEKO WORKs which announced the latest spin-off game series for the Nekopara franchise.

Titled Nekopara: Catboys Paradise, this game is a spin-off visual novel based on the otome genre. Not much different from the Nekopara series, this game will take you in your daily life as a cafe keeper who is guided by four humanoid cat figures who are too handsome (typical of otome). You can see the trailer for the game below:

Maybe some of you think that this is an April Fool’s joke, and that assumption is true, because this game was originally made as a joke in 2019. But all that changed because now NEKO WORKs decided to turn it into an original visual novel game. Cases like this have indeed happened before with SEGA making April Fool’s jokes from the Yakuza game with turn-based RPG gameplay, and who would have thought that the game ended up being Yakuza: Like A Dragon which ended up being a huge success in the market.

When is the Game Released?

If you are really curious about the game, Nekopara: Catboys Paradise is ready to be released this summer for PC and mobile (Android and iOS). The game will be available for free-to-play, aka free and already supports English, Japanese, and Chinese.
